BRIEF: Hilton Head man who flirted with deputy arrested

June 10, 2014

June 10--A Hilton Head Island man was arrested early Sunday after he followed a female deputy patrolling the island's bar district, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

The 26-year-old man was drinking on Greenwood Drive, near an area known locally as the "Barmuda Triangle," at about 2:30 a.m. and talking to a woman who "did not want anything to do with him," the report said. After someone told him to leave the woman alone, he began roaming the area and "making unwanted advances" at a female deputy, according to the report.

A male deputy tried to call a cab for the man, but he refused to get in and began removing his clothes, the report said. Deputies charged him with public disorderly conduct and took him to the Sheriff's Office, where he posted $262.50 bail Sunday, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log.
