EDMOND, Okla. -- An alert officer on his lunch break halted alleged burglars in a quiet local neighborhood, police said.

Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said an Edmond officer went home for lunch and noticed two black males in a vehicle in the Thornhill addition who were lying down in the seats trying to hide. Monroe said the officer noticed a third black male on foot.

Monroe said the officer detained the two juveniles in the vehicle while another officer apprehended the third suspect.

"We found a home that the front door was kicked in and the TV had been taken down from a wall mount," Monroe said.

Oklahoma City officers found a stolen cell phone from one of the homes in a juvenile's pocket, one juvenile had a diamond tennis bracelet from one of the homes and there was a handgun in their vehicle, Monroe said.

All three juveniles were detained until Oklahoma City officers arrived, Monroe said. OCPD arrested all three juveniles and took over the crime scene, Monroe said.
