Fugitive Arrested at Puerto Rico Mall; Dozens Flee

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A federal fugitive was arrested Saturday at the largest mall in the Caribbean after a scuffle with authorities that frightened dozens of shoppers who fled the scene, according to police.

Puerto Rico's police department tweeted that officers and agents with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Joselito Ferreira Casillas at Plaza las Americas, a popular mall that is often crowded on weekends. Ferreira, whose nickname is Pokemon, had previously been accused of drug trafficking in a 2011 case after local and federal authorities arrested him in La Perla, a seaside slum in colonial Old San Juan.

Police said that no shots were fired as some local media had reported.

Authorities said two other unidentified people were arrested amid a pursuit in which chairs and tables were thrown at the mall's food court.
