Shooting Reported in Vt. Police Station Lobby

One person was wounded in a shooting in the lobby of the Bennington Police Department Tuesday night.

A shooting was reported in the lobby of the Bennington, Vt. Police Department Tuesday night.

One person sustained a gunshot wound in the incident that occurred around 8:30 p.m. and was flown to a hospital in Albany, N.Y. for treatment, according to a Vermont State Police press release.

Officials said that no one else was injured in the shooting.

The Bennington Banner reported that initial scanner reports made mention of both a stabbing and a shooting, before the scanners went quiet.

State police said the medical status of the injured person was not available.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the station to investigate the incident.
