Ga. Officer Shot, Suspect Killed

A Gwinnett County officer was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gwinnett County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place Saturday evening in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett officers were called to a home in the 3000 block of Smokemist Trace in response to a burglary in progress. When officers entered the home, they confronted the male suspect, according to police.

One officer was shot in the leg and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was shot dead by police.

Authorities are investigating whether the incident is related to a reported stabbing at a home in nearby Willow Wood Way. In that reported incident, no suspect or victim was initially found, but a stabbing victim later returned to the residence and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
