Calif. Police Officer Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver

An Oxnard police officer on bicycle patrol sustained minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle.

An Oxnard police officer on bicycle patrol sustained minor injuries after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said Monday night.

The officer, who was patrolling with a partner, was rear-ended by the driver about 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South H Street, the Oxnard Police Department said.

The driver fled south on H Street and then was seen headed west on 2nd Street, police said. The car was described as a green late-1990s Hyundai or similar four-door vehicle and was damaged in front.

The officer was taken to a hospital. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (805) 385-7740.
