Report: More Arrests in 'Baby Hope' Case Possible

Oct. 15, 2013
The NYPD hasn’t ruled out additional arrests in the cold-case murder of Anjelica “Baby Hope” Castillo.

The NYPD hasn’t ruled out additional arrests as it continues to investigate the cold-case murder of Anjelica “Baby Hope” Castillo, The Post has learned.

A high-ranking police source said cops are still trying to reconstruct what went on inside the Queens apartment where the tragic tot was allegedly killed by cousin Conrado Juarez.

Juarez, 52, allegedly admitted that he sodomized and smothered 4-year-old Anjelica inside the crowded Astoria home in 1991, then dumped her body with the help of his since-deceased sister, Balvina Juarez-Ramirez.

“We are looking into whether anyone else there was involved” — either in the murder or covering it up, the source said.

Juarez remains locked up without bail. His Bronx neighbors said he often muttered to himself while redeeming cans at a local liquor store.

“He’d come down here and he’d be talking, but to nobody,” said Morris Heights resident Julio Pabon, 57.
