Oklahoma Deputy Killed Responding to Help Trooper

Sept. 13--WETUMKA -- Funeral services for an Okfuskee County sheriff's deputy who was killed in a traffic collision this week have been scheduled for Monday.

David E. Allford, 37, of Wetumka lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe and struck a cable barrier after a tire blew out Wednesday on Interstate 40 near the Okemah exit.

Allford was responding to a call from an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who needed assistance with "a combative subject," according to an accident report.

Allford, a father of two, was an Army veteran who had worked in law enforcement for more than a decade, Sheriff Jack Choate said in a statement Thursday.

A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God in Wetumka under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Donations to Allford's family can be made at the BancFirst and Citizen's State Bank branches in Okemah.
