The U.S. Marshals Service captured a Most Wanted fugitive Wednesday morning at a home in Mount Pocono.

Marshals, members of the USMS Fugitive Task Force and officers from Mount Pocono Regional Police Department arrested Anthony Ruielewicz, 34, in a residence on Old Timber Road in Mount Pocono.

Ruielewicz was taken into custody after attempting to hide under a set of stairs and will be extradited to New York.

In 2006, Ruielewicz was convicted of first degree assault in the state of New York. In that case, Ruielewicz injured a law enforcement officer during a high speed chase, ramming a marked police car multiple times.

Upon release from prison, Ruielewicz was placed on state parole supervision in New York.

On May 10, 2013, a New York state warrant was issued charging Ruielewicz with violation of parole. Ruielewicz was listed as one of New York State Parole's Most Wanted fugitives.

The U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force got information that Ruielewicz may have fled to the Poconos, and sent an investigative lead to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

U.S. Marshals were assisted by personnel from the Pennsylvania State Police, the Scranton Police Department, and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. Additional assistance was provided by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.
