San Jose Police Arrest Three in Gang-Related Slaying

Police on Saturday arrested three people, including a 17-year-old boy, suspected in the gang-motivated stabbing death of a 56-year-old man on the city's East Side.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Police on Saturday arrested three people, including a 17-year-old boy, suspected in the gang-motivated stabbing death of a 56-year-old man on the city's East Side.

San Jose police today announced the arrest of Robert Alvarez, 21 and Cassandra Reyes, 24, both from San Jose, in the killing of Gregorio Ogana. San Jose police also arrested a 17-year-old boy, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile.

Alvarez and Reyes were booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of murder with a gang enhancement. The boy was booked into juvenile hall on the same charges.

On June 13 at 12:37 a.m., police responded to reports of a person stabbed in the 100 block of Checkers Drive, located near McKee and King roads. Officers found Ogana in front of a home suffering from multiple stab wounds. Ogana was taken to Regional Medical Center, where he died at 1:33 a.m.

In a statement, homicide commander Lt. Mike Kihmm said, "I want to commend the homicide detectives on their relentless follow up on this case. They were able to solve this case within 48 hours of this murder and I am glad that it will give the family members of the victim relief that these violent criminals are off our streets."
