Bahamas Police Probe Deaths of Two Inmates

Authorities in the Bahamas are investigating the deaths of two men while in police custody.


NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — Authorities in the Bahamas are investigating the deaths of two men while in police custody.

Pathologists found that 20-year-old Aaron Rolle died from hemorrhaging and a ruptured intestine caused by blunt force trauma to the chest. Rolle had been arrested on charges of breaking into a home and died Feb. 9 at the police station.

Pathologists also found that 35-year-old Jamie Smith died from asphyxiation a day later. Smith had been arrested on charges of attempted armed robbery.

The police department made the announcement Wednesday.
