An off-duty deputy for the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office helped police nab a hit-and-run suspect after an accident late Thursday at Macon Road and Mall Entrance.
Lennie Seiber, 50, was off duty when he saw a driver trying to leave the scene of an accident about 8:05 p.m. A man later identified as Eddie Woody is accused of trying to hit Seiber after the deputy ordered him to get out of his vehicle.
After leaving the scene, Woody was later found at 1831 Wynnton Road. He was charged with reckless conduct, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, following too closely, driving while his license suspended and having no proof of insurance. He was held at the Muscogee County Jail for a 2 p.m. Saturday hearing in Recorder's Court.
