McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Police have confirmed that a body found in Texas is that of a mother whose two young children were allegedly shot by her boyfriend.
El Campo Police Chief Terry Stanphill says he is awaiting a preliminary autopsy report but that the body of 28-year-old Brandy Cerny showed evidence of gunshot wounds.
Police in Laredo, some 200 miles away, are holding Cerny's 36-year-old boyfriend Demond Bluntson pending charges. Police believe Bluntson shot and killed his 21-month-old son and critically wounded Cerny's other 6-year-old son on Tuesday.
Stanphill says a neighbor found Cerny's body in a building on a property in El Campo where Bluntson used to keep dogs. Cerny was last seen with her sons at church in El Campo on Sunday. Her father reported her missing Monday morning.
