A North Carolina Sheriff’s Deputy Was killed in a cruiser wreck responding to an assault in progress call on Friday night.

A North Carolina Sheriff’s Deputy Was killed in a cruiser wreck responding to an assault in progress call on Friday night.

According to Officer Down Memorial Page and News Channel 3 WWAY, Bladen County Deputy Sheriff Dwayne Charles Hester, 39, was responding to a report of an in-progress assault with a deadly weapon incident when he crashed in his cruiser.

Hester, according to news reports, had been with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office for a little more than a year. Previously, he had been an officer with the Elizabethtown Police Department for four years.

He is survived by his wife and two children.
