May 02--FORT WALTON BEACH -- Two people were arrested Tuesday night for manufacturing methamphetamine in a motel room off U.S. Highway 98.
Christopher Randall Kirkland, 40, and Heather Nicole Bass, 31, appeared to be living at the Sea Breeze Inn, according to arrest reports from the Fort Walton Beach police department.
Kirkland said he was learning to produce meth using the "shake and bake" method and had tried 30 times in order to perfect his recipe, according to the reports.
Officers found several items commonly used to manufacture meth and about two ounces of meth oil in the room, the reports said.
Kirkland told officers most of the meth was for personal use, but that he had sold a small amount of the finished product to people he knew.
Bass admitted to buying some of the ingredients, but said she was too afraid to mix any of them together, according to the report.
Kirkland and Bass were both charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and were being held in the Okaloosa County Jail Wednesday on $10,000 bonds.
