Suspected Drunken Driver Caught Traveling at 108 MPH in N.C.

Troopers said a suspected drunken driver was traveling 108 mph when she was stopped on Interstate 85 near Belmont on Sunday morning.

Troopers said a suspected drunken driver was traveling 108 mph when she was stopped on Interstate 85 near Belmont on Sunday morning.

Highway Patrol Trooper L.T. Randall stopped Donelle Marie Spivey for speeding in a 60 mph zone, the Gaston Gazette reported.

Randall said after stopping Spivey, he noticed a strong odor of alcohol and she had an open container of alcohol in the car.

Randall said Spivey blew a 0.15 percent on a Breathalyzer test, which is nearly double the legal limit of 0.08 percent in North Carolina.

Police said Spivey also kicked and broke the windshield of Randall?s patrol, causing $250 damage.
