Mo. Police Chief Succumbs to Crash Injuries

Leadwood Police Chief Jerry Hicks died Sunday night due to injuries he sustained in a crash on Nov. 29 while he was en route to pick up members of an inmate work crew at Potosi Prison.

Leadwood's police chief died Sunday night due to injuries he sustained in a crash on Nov. 29, according to KMOV-TV.

Police Chief Jerry Hicks, 69, was en route to pick up members of an inmate work crew at Potosi Prison when he hit an icy patch on State Highway 8 in Washington County.

He lost control of his vehicle before slamming into a tree, according to the news station.

Hicks was transported to Washington County Hospital and later flown to St. John's in St. Louis where he died on Sunday at approximately 5 p.m.

Hicks is survived by his adult children.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
