Minnesota Officer Dies While On Duty

A St. Louis Park police officer died Wednesday while on duty, according to KARE-TV.

Officer Mike Pollitz, 37, experienced an acute medical emergency Wednesday around 2:19 p.m., Police Chief John Luse told the news station.

The six-year veteran's condition quickly deteriorated and he went into cardiac arrest. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died.

"Our department and the Pollitz family are grateful for the thoughts and prayers of our community and all those who have expressed their love and compassion during this difficult time," Luse said in a statement.

Pollitz is survived by his wife and two young children.
