Two Women Stabbed During Colo. Hostage Situation

LAKEWOOD, Colo. --

A man with a knife held two women hostage overnight in a Lakewood apartment building, police said.

The police stand-off began around 3:30 a.m. in a building near West 16th Place and Balsam Street.

An hour later, the situation became unstable and officers forced their way into the apartment, according to Detective Ryan McKone, with the Lakewood Police Department.

McKone said officers had to make quick entry into the apartment to save the two women.

Both women were stabbed, but their wounds are not life-threatening, said McKone.

Police took a man into custody.
