SAN ANTONIO

Police say a suspected drunken driver slammed into an officer's car and then led police on a chase before crashing his vehicle.

Investigators said the crash happened around 2 a.m. Friday as the officer was driving down McCullough Avenue.

The suspected drunk driver made a u-turn and crashed into the police cruiser, police said. The driver then fled down San Pedro Avenue before losing control of his vehicle, police said.

The driver hit a curb, took out two guard rails and ended up in a VIA Transit parking lot.

Police said the suspected drunken driver was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver will be charged with DWI and fleeing the scene of an accident. The officer was not hurt.
