Ind. Officer Slashed by Suspect Released From Hospital

A Lafayette officer who police said was slashed across the face in a confrontation with a suspect has been released from the hospital.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. --

A Lafayette officer who police said was slashed across the face in a confrontation with a suspect has been released from the hospital.

Officer Ron Dombkowski was chasing a man in connection with a possible arson and fight in the 600 block of Oregon Street early Wednesday when the suspect slashed him with a knife, police said.

Assisting officers shot the suspect, Paul Spencer, 39, who later died of his injuries.

Dombkowski was said to be doing well and resting comfortably at home Thursday.
