ATLANTA -- Three female Georgia Tech students have reported being assaulted recently, prompting a beefed-up police presence on the campus of the school near downtown Atlanta.

In the most recent report, a woman told authorities she was walking on campus early Tuesday when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her around the waist. Police say the woman struck the man and ran. She wasn't hurt. Police say two other female students also reported being assaulted on campus recently.

The reported attacks come nearly a year after a series of crimes, including a December dorm-room attack in which a student's teeth were knocked out by four suspects who looted his room.

In the summer of 2009, police also stepped up patrols around the campus after several students were robbed at gunpoint.
