Ohio Officer's Cruiser Rear-Ended by Suspected Drunk Driver

CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio --

A Miami Township police officer was taken to the hospital after his cruiser was rear-ended in a crash early Sunday morning, police said.

Police said Officer John Chirgwin was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Ohio 28 and Woodville Pike at about 3 a.m. when a driver struck his cruiser from behind.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was arrested for Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated.

Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. There is no information on the condition of the officer.
