STOCKTON, Calif. --
Two groups of men opened fire during an altercation outside a popular restaurant located inside the Waterfront Warehouse in Stockton, police said.
The four men shot off several rounds near where dozens of people were eating and shopping, but no one was hit in the gun battle, police said.
Police said it was remarkable that no one was hit by the flying bullets.
A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting and another, police said, was detained for questioning.
Thursday was the first day that the Waterfront Warehouse had hired armed security guards on patrol.
The Waterfront Warehouse is the home to several eateries, a beauty school and the Stockton Chamber of Commerce.
