Inmate Seriously Injured in Jump From Pa. Prison

A 45-year-old man was seriously injured when he jumped from an upper tier cell block at Lancaster County Prison on Wednesday morning,

LANCASTER, Pa. --

A 45-year-old man was seriously injured when he jumped from an upper tier cell block at Lancaster County Prison on Wednesday morning, Lancaster police detectives said.

At 8:20 a.m., Lancaster police were called to the prison for an inmate who fell about 13 feet.

He was taken in an ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital, where he is in extremely critical condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation by Lancaster police detectives found that the inmate deliberately jumped.

The victim's name has not been released.
