Miss. Officer, Deputy Hurt When Cruisers Collide

A Hinds County sheriff's deputy and Raymond police officer were injured Wednesday when their patrol cars crashed into one another.

RAYMOND, Miss. --

A Hinds County sheriff's deputy and Raymond police officer were injured Wednesday when their patrol cars crashed into one another, authorities said.

According to witnesses, a Sheriff's Department cruiser was traveling south on Old Port Gibson Road shortly after 2 p.m., when it collided with a Raymond police cruiser attempting to make a left turn.

Hinds County patrol Deputy Kenneth Langford was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries, county officials said.

Raymond police Officer Tracey Funchess was taken to Central Mississippi Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

The Hinds County Sheriff's Department and Raymond Police Department are investigating the crash.
