VERO BEACH, Fla. --

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper has been arrested in connection with a Vero Beach home invasion.

Paige Martin was arrested on burglary and battery charges.

Vero Beach police said the incident occurred Monday at an apartment on 40th Avenue.

Police said Martin and her accomplice, Christine Gannon, forced their way inside the victim's apartment searching for someone named Brandon.

According to the arrest affidavit, as the off-duty trooper searched the apartment, she yelled, "I'm Cuban. I'll show you I'm crazy."

Police said Martin and Gannon ran off after the victim called 911.

The FHP said Martin has been placed on indefinite administrative leave pending further investigation.
