Alleged Drunken Driver Punches Wis. Officer

A 21-year-old Madison man is facing a number of charges after police said he punched an officer after crashing his car early Tuesday morning.

MADISON, Wis. --

Madison police said that a 21-year-old Madison man has been arrested on suspicion that he punched an officer in the face after being arrested on a charge of drunken driving.

The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 4400 block of Doe Crossing.

Police said Joseph Kief was intoxicated and in possession of a handgun when he crashed his car on Doe Crossing.

When police arrived, they arrested Kief, who then punched an officer in the face, according to authorities.

Kief is facing charges of endangering safety, battery to a police officer, and domestic battery, along with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
