BROOKSHIRE, Texas --

A former police officer has been indicted on theft charges.

A Waller County grand jury indicted former Brookshire Police Officer Charles Jerome Cole on charges of official oppression and theft on Saturday.

Prosecutors said the charges are a result of an investigation conducted by several departments.

The charges were based on Cole's conduct while on duty about three months ago, prosecutors said.

Cole was released from jail on $10,000 bond.

Cole's employment with the Brookshire Police Department was terminated before the cases went to a grand jury.
