The Lake City Police Department said it has fired an officer for giving falsified information.

LAKE CITY, Fla. --

The Lake City Police Department said it has fired an officer for giving falsified information.

After an internal investigation, the department found that Officer Chris Hughes gave false information and neglected duty, according to a news release.

The police chief fired Hughes late Tuesday afternoon based on the investigation.

There's no word on exactly what led to the investigation.
