SACRAMENTO, Calif. --
An apparently drunk man was arrested Tuesday morning in Sacramento after he hit a patrol officer in the eye, authorities said.
Officers were called to the 6100 block of South Land Park Drive just after midnight when a homeowner found Donald Tracy Kelley, 48, sleeping in the driveway and refusing to leave.
Police said Kelly thought he had stumbled to the home of a relative.
A police report said Kelley became combative and refused to cooperate when officers attempted to place him in handcuffs. That's when an officer was struck, receiving a minor injury.
Kelley was booked on suspicion of two felonies and a misdemeanor: battery, resisting arrest and public drunkenness. He remains in jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
