Officer.com Seeks Experienced Law Enforcement Veteran for Editor in Chief Opening
Officer.com, the Web's leading source of news, information and community for law enforcement professionals, is seeking an experienced online/publication content team leader to serve as its Editor in Chief.
This is a new position based in our Calverton/Beltsville, Md. offices, nestled between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
POSITION/DESCRIPTION:
The Editor in Chief will drive Officer.com's law enforcement training, feature and product related editorial content, and work hand-in-hand with the Associate Publisher and Director of News to tie breaking industry events to unique online editorial and content-driven features and commentary.
He/she will work closely with group to develop an editorial plan, calendar and budget for Officer.com, including scheduled contributors, targeted content, Webcasts and new sections.
Create story ideas, write, edit articles and editorials; produce in appropriate format. Coordinate work of freelance writers. Work closely with our print publications and trade show on interwoven content and feature opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in journalism, communications, English, criminal justice or applicable field.
- At least four years of experience driving feature editorial content for an online or print-based publication is required, or equivalent media management experience in law enforcement.
- Emphasis/experience in law enforcement, security or public safety is preferred.
