The Route 91 Harvest Festival Attack 2017, Pt. 1

Sept. 18, 2018
The deadliest active shooter attack to date occurred on October 1, 2017 as Stephen Paddock fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into a crowd of about 22,000 almost 500 meters away.

When Stephen Paddock opened fire on concert goers in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017, he not only performed the deadliest mass shooting in the United States (as this is written) but he also ignited a nationwide storm of gun control debate as well as creating several true heroes. Well, he didn’t create them; he created the circumstances in which they could shine.

On that date at approximately 10:05pm, from his room in the Mandalay Bay, Paddock opened fire down into the large crowd of attendees at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. It should be noted that the festival location was NOT on the same property as the Mandalay Bay. It was diagonally across both South Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip) and Mandalay Bay Road.

Paddock’s suite was on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay and that was where he performed the attack from. Numerous reports after the event claimed another shooter several floors lower and, in fact, at least one report claimed a shooter at ground level attacking concert goers and other in the parking lots in the area. To date the second and third shooters have not been confirmed by any law enforcement investigative agency.
