Sarah! Sarah!

When presidential nominee John McCain (R) pulled the surprise rabbit out of his hat with his pick of vice-presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, he made a stunning impact with strategists who had anticipated other potential candidates and were likely in the process of preparing their campaign methods of attack. During her convention speech, Palin displayed herself as a confident, self-assured, and highly professional woman fearless in taking on special interests, controversial issues, and the opposing political party. She stirred a crowd in which many have since been chanting, “Sarah, Sarah” wherever she appears.

Undoubtedly, Sarah Palin’s candidacy threw many off guard, and she has now become a threat to what was perceived to be a smooth sailing race for the Democratic Party. Her sudden popularity has apparently elevated the winning stakes for Senator John McCain that has now become a disquieting concern for Senator Barack Obama (D). As a consequence, the ante has now been upped to pull out all the stops to dig up anything about Palin that could embarrass, humiliate, or denigrate her personally and taint the Republican campaign politically. Her self-assured stature, proven capabilities, and willingness to speak up and speak out sends chills down the backs of those who worry that she could have sway on the voters to touch tone their vote for the other side.

Analogous to the Queen Bee Syndrome that operates in many workplace environments, attempts are being made to tarnish her reputation, question her qualifications, investigate her actions, and second guess her decisions—all in an attempt to politically destroy her and, in turn, smother McCain’s possibilities. Though some may argue such is the game of “politics,” perhaps, in some circumstances, it would be best to listen to the words of Marcel Marceau who said, “It’s good to shut up sometimes.”

Charlie Gibson would never have tried the school teacherish tone with Obama or Biden. Not because they are anymore qualified than she is, but he clearly gets his marching orders from Obama. His demeanor and use of words like ‘hubris’ were both condescending and insulting. Did he ask Obama, who had been in the senate under two years when he announced, any of these types of questions? Or will he in the future, no way.

What a lot of us women object in Mrs. Palin is not necessarily her lack of experience - bright people can
actually learn very fast - but the following:
    - the many inconsistencies in her positions such backing/
opposing the famous “bridge to nowhere”
    - Her inflexibility regarding women’s rights to choose,
when she obviously used her own right to choose, and so
    did her daughter
    - Her repeated platitudes about expertise in foreign
affairs because “she knows energy” and her attitude
about knowledge re Russia “because you can actually
see Russia from an island in Alaska”
    - Her inability to accept the total separation of church
    and state…
And I could go on and on. Please do not assume that all
women vote as a block, and that all women will admire all
accomplished women, regardless of whether they shoot wolves from planes or not.

Talk about a nut! Palin, war with russia? this crazy lady who cannot manage her family wants to manage the usa. No way not on my watch. Then we have Troopergate and underage drinking going on. What a joke the buzz will ware off very soon and then you will see her and the old bag of wind ride off in the sunset.

I find the responses from what appear to be liberal police officers shocking. They attack with yet to be unproven Troopergate allegations. I wonder if they defended a perjurer by the name of Bill Clinton. I remind them that this is a no no in our profession. Then of course there are allegations that Palin cannot manage her family. Why, because a seventeen year old child made a mistake? At least she stood by the child. It is terrifiying that people cannot see look past their hatred for Bush. I don’t like McCain as a candidate either. However, he does not have ties to a terrorist who tried to blow up the Pentagon. He does not have ties to those who believe in radical Islam. Are these behaviors and associations not things which we as law enforcement officers must stand against? Obama thinks he can go to Iran and hug a viper. Republicans recognize Iran for what it is, a serious threat to our way of life. Of course, we should also fear the appointment of liberal Supreme Court justices that would establish case law or legislate from the bench in ways that would make the Warren court look conservative. Wake up America. Obama promises change…they fail to consider that change could be for the worse. Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air the likes of which we have not seen since President Reagan.

  6. Thank you Lord for Sarah Palin–the emobodiment of everything “feminism” ever represented. Ironically, now that a prominent woman has done all that the feminists have been saying women should be doing, that demonize her for it. Without Sarah this election would surely be a runaway for the self-proclaimed agent of change. Now conservatives like myself are energized and excited about the election. I don’t think that it’s a conincidence that this women appeared in our midst… For more on Sarah see http://www.RedStatePapa.blogspot.com

Regarding Sarah Palin, thank God for her. The RNC was on the express train to nowhere for years now, at least to me. I respect McCain for his military service, but that’s about it. I have disagreed with his politics, and make no mistake, we’re still going to have to fight him through congress for his amnesty plans which aren’t going away. I’ve also been dismayed the same people that for years have crammed down our throats that anyone getting in a woman’s way was evil, are now trying to tear Palin apart. Probably because she’s conservative. The mass media has lost credibility with me. They hit her with questions and attacks they would never dream of saying to BO. He gets a free ride while they try to destroy her. The more they do this, the more I am determined to vote for her. I see little to dislike in her. I like the fact she loves her family and God and isn’t embarrassed by it. I like the fact she can handle a rifle and knows the use of weapons. I like the fact she seems positive and has direction. I like the fact that she seems comfortable with herself and has done well. I like the fact that she seems like she can kick ass when needed. I’d be comfortable working with her as a partner in a radio car, or working for her if she was a supervisor at LAPD. I also really like the fact she is feminine and is not trying to impersonate a man. The last ten or twenty years of seeing Hillary Clinton trying to impersonate a man with her pant suits and trying sound tough, while she mostly rode around on her husband’s coattails have gotten tiring. Things like her stunt with trying to say she took enemy fire, just eliminated her credibility and I think helped her lose her party’s nomination. I’m happy we have Sarah to vote for, and personally I can’t wait for November now. I think the other side is scared to death about this, which is why they are waging an all out war against her. I think most of their efforts will backfire though.

Palin will be the undoing of Obama’s campaign. It obviously undid the entire left wing media the day after Palin spoke at the convention. The entire elite bunch imploded in attempting to defile her, and did absolutely nothing but look more stupid than usual.
The Democratic party joined in with several, including Obama and Biden making severely sexist comments, which made the women for Hillary realize they were all on the wrong side of this election.
And THEN, Obama himself decided he was running against Palin and came across with the ‘lipstick on a pig’ comment which sealed the deal on this election in my opinion.
It’s about time elections have a breath of fresh air. Someone not worried about what they say from one moment to the next and how polls affect speech.
    It’s a glorious day.
