Milwaukee Police Officer Who Survived Fatal Crash Released From Hospital

A Milwaukee police officer who survived a patrol car crash that killed his partner Thursday evening has been released from the hospital.

A Milwaukee police officer who survived a patrol car crash that killed his partner Thursday evening has been released from the hospital.

Officer Matthew Schulze and Officer Charles Irvine Jr. were pursuing a reckless driver when their cruiser rolled over near an overpass, according to WISC-TV.

Irvine, who was just 23, died in the crash while the 36-year-old Schulz was discharged from the hospital on Friday.

Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales told reporters that the suspect they were pursuing is a 28-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record. The suspect was taken into custody, along with a 45-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.

Irvine is the first Milwaukee police officer killed in the line of duty since 1996
