A traffic stop near downtown went awry Saturday evening when the car officers were seeking to pull over instead bolted, the driver striking an officer, a police cruiser and another vehicle on his path toward the interstate, according to West Palm Beach police.
Police eventually caught up to the two men they believe were in the black Infiniti. Though no one appeared to be seriously injured, the police officer and both suspects were taken to the hospital to be checked out by a doctor, a statement issued Saturday night said.
By Sunday morning, those suspects, Kelby Parson, 20, and Alfonzo Leon Facon, 22, both of Riviera Beach, were booked in the county jail, reported Sgt. David Lefont. Both Facon and Parson face charges of resisting arrest. Parson also faces charges including aggravated battery, fleeing police and driving without a license.

The police department did not release the name of the officer who was struck or detail any injuries from the incident, but Lefont said he is "fine."
Officials said it began when authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an Infiniti at 8:08 p.m. near Banyan Boulevard and North Tamarind Avenue. When the Infiniti took off, crashing into the officer and two other vehicles, police followed until they got to I-95 and Southern Boulevard. Then the driver and passenger jumped out and ran only to be captured "within minutes." At last report, the investigation was ongoing, and in addition to arresting the two men, police said they also recovered a gun.
