I have recently had the pleasure of being on an internet radio show called
"The Cop Doc" radio show on BlogTalk Radio. After having been a guest on the show twice, and now having been on NRA News Radio about a dozen times, it occurred to me that the Internet is far from being just the World Wide Web of info anymore. Yes, I'm a tad slow...
Think about it though: no longer is the World Wide Web (WWW)
just for looking up information or reading news, etc. The technology which is the backbone of the WWW - what we commonly refer to as "the Internet" - is now being used for virtually all forms of communication or media entertainment. If you want to you can get
- news
- television
- movies
- music
- radio
- family & friend information (social media)
- research information
- and more
on the Internet. Blogs and micro-blogging have made it possible for us to provide countless updates each day on what we're doing - trivial or otherwise.
This "new" technology development has created a situation where any Internet presence which depends on traffic as a revenue generating tool has to expand to leverage every opportunity of media variety - or ultimately fail because competitors are.
As the editor for Officer.com I pondered what we do and don't do and then I wondered whether or not our readership actually realized the variety of what we do. The list of what we do, as complete as I can think of (cheating to look at the site as I write this) includes:
And our presence doesn't just end with our website. We have established presence on all the major
social media sites such as
Of course, for all of that, we still want to make sure we haven't missed something. Our readership, now counting nearly a million readers each month, has to want something we're not providing or know of some outlet that would allow us to provide all our information and services more efficiently. Hence this blog entry...
If you know of something we're not doing that you'd like us to do, post a suggestion comment below. If we're not "touching" a service or site or outlet you'd like for us to or that would increase our reach, make a suggestion comment below.
Whether you comment or not,
