Winning Images of the 2014 IAI Photo Contest - Forensic and Creative

To document a crime scene takes technical skill and a keen eye. These forensic photographers managed to capture the weight of some indescribable crime scenes. Also included are creative photos by forensic photographers that reveal the beauty of everyday life in mesmerizing detail. The following images were showcased at the International Association of Investigators Conference, August 2014.

What have you captured lately?

The International Association for Identification (IAI) was founded in 1915. The professional forensic association and its membership of experienced forensic science professionals work to educate, share and critique methods of collecting identification.

At the 100th International Educational Conference, individuals will have an opportunity to participate in this year’s 2015 Photo Contest. Again there will be categories for Forensic and Creative entries. Registration for next year’s photo contest opens April 1, with a deadline of July 24. The theme for this year’s Creative category is “Old and New”, in keeping with this year’s conference theme, “A Proud Past, A Bright Future.”

Enter to win

  • Maximum two entries per competitor
  • Any subject matter may be used (for example crime scene and evidentiary photos for the Forensic category; and nature, artsy or personal photos utilizing the “Old and New” theme for the Creative category)
  • Photos may be in black and white or color
  • Size specifications: All sides must be at least 16 inches and no more than 24 inches
  • Photos must be mounted on foam board with no borders, no frames and no matting.
  • An 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch Photo Contest Entry Label (provided upon registration) 
  • must be completed and mounted on foam board with no borders and submitted with your photo entry. The description/technical data should be no greater than 100 words, 16 point type.
