Man Serving Life For Officer's Death Back In Court

March 21, 2011

A man who claims he was framed in the 1970 murder of an Omaha police officer is making an appeal on Friday in Douglas County District Court.

Edward Poindexter is one of two men serving life sentences for the murder of Omaha police Officer Larry Mynard.

Poindexter's attorney is asking the court for a voice analysis of the 911 emergency call made the night that Minard was killed. At trial, the prosecutor claimed the voice on the tape was that of key witness Duane Peak.

For years, Poindexter has contended the voice is not Peak's. He hopes a voice analysis will prove the evidence false, and vindicate him of the murder.
