Two Acadia Parish, Louisiana Sheriff's deputies were stabbed multiple times and their suspected attacker was taken into custody over the weekend.
The deputies attempted to arrest 42-year-old Jason Broussard outside Leger's Grocery in the 800 block of Grand Prairie Highway Saturday evening after responding to a reported disturbance at the story, according to The Advocate.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Maxine Trahan told the newspaper that Broussard began resisting the deputies and proceeded to stab both of them multiple times.
Responding deputies arrested the suspect as he tried to flee the area.
The two wounded deputies, who work undercover narcotics cases, were airlifted to a Lafayette hospital.
One deputy was released Saturday night and the second deputy remained at the hospital overnight and was released Sunday morning.
Both are currently recovering at their homes.
Broussard was transported to Acadia General Hospital before being booked into jail on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of resisting arrest and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon.
He also had outstanding warrants for felon in possession of a firearm and resisting an officer from an unrelated incident about a week ago.
The incident is currently under investigation.
