San Jose police officers exchanged gunfire with a man Thursday night, the police department said, landing two officers and the suspect in the hospital.
Police said officers were investigating a disturbance on San Ignacio Avenue near the Bernal Plaza shopping center when they "made contact with" an adult male suspect, who allegedly shot at the officers. Police shot back at the man, the department said, and he was taken into custody.
Two officers and the man were taken to the hospital.
As of Friday morning, one officer with moderate injuries was treated and released from the hospital. The other officer had life-threatening injuries and was stabilized, but remained in critical condition.
The suspect also had life-threatening injuries and was stabilized but in critical condition as of Friday morning.
San Jose police did not immediately release the names of the suspect or the officers involved.
