A Mobile man suspected in a rash of auto burglaries in the area was arrested Monday, but not before leading police on a chase in which the suspect crashed into a police car and three other vehicles.
Mobile police said officers were investigating the auto burglaries in west Mobile Mondy afternoon when they spotted a vehicle involved in one of the incidents. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled the scene, crashing into a police patrol car.
Three more vehicle were struck before the suspect wrecked at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Highway 90. One person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Vincent Parnell Sandifer, has been charged with 30 counts of auto burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment and attempting to elude police.
Court records show Sandifer is a convicted felon, having pleaded guilty in 2018 burglary and animal cruelty after breaking into a man’s home, armed with a handgun, and shooting the man’s dog in the head. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but only served six months.
